Terminator Genisys (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke)

New DVD and Blu-ray movies this week include Terminator Genisys (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke), Trainwreck (Amy Schumer, Ben Kingsley), Selfless (Ryan Reynolds) and Mr. Holmes (Ian McKellen). I saw Terminator Genisys (review) at the theaters and thought it was OK, but I’ll probably watch it again because I’m a fan of the Terminator series. I also plan on watching Train Wreck. I’ve heard it’s good. Continue reading for a summary of the new Blu-ray and DVD films for this week.

DVDs coming out the week of November 10, 2015

  • Terminator Genisys (review)
When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance against Skynet, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator assassin, an unexpected turn of events creates an altered timeline. Instead of a scared waitress, Sarah is a skilled fighter and has a Terminator guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger) by her side. Faced with unlikely allies and dangerous new enemies, Reese sets out on an unexpected new mission: reset the future.

  • Trainwreck
Since she was a little girl, it’s been drilled into Amy’s (Schumer) head by her rascal of a dad (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn’t realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo-enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment-but in actuality, she’s kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she’s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.

  • Selfless
In this provocative psychological science fiction thriller, an extremely wealthy man (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley) undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body’s origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause.

  • Mr. Holmes
Mr. Holmes is a new twist on the world’s most famous detective. 1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love — before it’s too late.
