The Gunman | Universal Pictures Home Entertainment

I recently watched The Gunman. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment sent me the Blu-ray for review on my movie blog. The Gunman stars Sean Penn and is the story about a former black-ops assassin that is now being hunted by professional killers. I actually like the movie even though the story isn’t original. We’ve all seen similar stories with actors like Liam Neeson, Jason Statham, and Steven Seagal. Nevertheless, I enjoyed The Gunman and found myself rooting for the main character and his love interest. The Gunman is available now on digital HD, and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on June 30th. Continue reading to learn four things about The Gunman.

Four Things About The Gunman Blu-ray

  1. The hunter is now the hunted
The story starts off with the main character, Terrier, in Africa. The organization he works for has him kill someone and tells him to flee after his mission has been completed. He does his job and then leaves the love of his life behind without any explanation. The story then flashes forward eight years. Terrier is now working for an organization that helps Africa. Then one day, a group of hit men hunt him down and try to kill him. Instead, Terrier kills them and goes on the run to figure out why someone is trying to kill him. Eventually, Terrier concludes it has something to do with his secret mission eight years earlier. While uncovering the mystery, Terrier bumps into his former love, Annie. As a result, both Terrier and Annie are now on the run.

  2. Sean Penn is buff
I’ve always thought Sean Penn was a good actor. What I didn’t know was the he’s also buffed. Unlike some actors who have played similar roles, Sean actually looked like he was in special forces. He’s like a ripped version of Liam Neeson and Steven Seagal. If Sean was British, he would have a decent shot at being the next James Bond.

  3. Stars Sean Penn and Javier Bardem
Sean Penn is the star of The Gunman. He played the part of Terrier, the black ops assassin. I thought he did an excellent job. Jasmine Trinca played the part of Annie, who is the love of Terrier’s life. Javier Bardem was also a central figure in the film (Felix). Other cast members included Ray Winstone (Stanley), Mark Rylance (Cox), Idris Elba (Barnes), Peter FranzĂ©n (Reiniger ), Billy Billingham (Reed), Daniel Adegboyega (Bryson), Ade Oyefeso (Eugene), Alejandro Talavante (Bullfighter), Florian Barisey (Village Boy), Ismael Tunkara (Village Boy), Amara Tunkara (Village Boy), and Rachel Lascar (Camille). The Gunman was directed by Pierre Morel.

  4. There are no extra features
The Gunman Combo Pack includes the movie on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD (UltraViolet streaming). However, I could not find any special features on the two-disc set.
