Star Wars Blasts Chipmunks, Sisters at the Box Office

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher)

As expected, Star Wars: The Force Awakens destroyed the competition over the weekend with a record-setting gross of $248.0 million. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip opened in second place at the box office with $14.3 million. Sisters opened in third place by grossing $13.9 million. In the Heart of the Sea opened to a disappointing second place with $11.1 million. The Good Dinosaur remained in third place with $10.3 million.
