As expected, Star Wars: The Force Awakens destroyed the competition over the weekend with a record-setting gross of $248.0 million. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip opened in second place at the box office with $14.3 million. Sisters opened in third place by grossing $13.9 million. Looks like it’s a slow week for new DVD and Blu-ray movies. New titles include Mad Max: Fury Road (Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy) and Star Wars Rebels (season 1). I definitely want to see the new Mad Max film. I’m not sure about the new Star Ware animated series. I saw a few episodes earlier in the year and wasn’t impress. New DVD and Blu-ray releases this week include Mr. Peabody & Sherman (review), X-Men: Days of Future Past (Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence), and Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion. I saw both the X-Men and Peabody movies at the theater. I enjoyed them both, but I thought Days of Future Past focused too much on Wolverine.
